Winkler: Come out to Paradise Valley’s 15th annual Veterans Day vintage car show

Posted

On Nov. 9, the Town of Paradise Valley will host the 15th Annual Paradise Valley Veterans’ Appreciation Vintage Car Show.

The town invites its neighbors and friends to take those wonderful collector cars out of their garages and drive them over to Town Hall.

The objective of the show is for Paradise Valley residents, young and old, to come to Town Hall and meet their neighbors and enjoy these wonderful old vintage automobiles and motorcycles and meet some outstanding veterans.

The show runs from 8:30-11 a.m., then the “PV Classic Car Parade & Tour” begins. The cars exit the Town Hall parking lot on Lincoln Drive heading East to Mockingbird.

Then turn right (south) on Mockingbird Drive and continue to McDonald Drive.

At McDonald the cars will turn right (west) to 56th Street. At 56th the cars will turn right (north) and continue to Lincoln Drive entering the El Chorro Lodge for a no-host lunch; all with the help of our police and police volunteers.

We request that each car entrant donate a minimum of $50 to our designated charity. This year we will donate all proceeds and contributions from the show to the The Sentinels of Freedom and the Military Assistance Mission; both nonprofits, supporting Arizona military and their families.

If you would like to enter a car please call Diane at Town Hall: 480-348-3530.

Attendance is free to all spectators, so come and view the 150 plus automobiles; this is an adventure.

All cars are pre-1979, and include cars from the Brass Era, pre-war classics, vintage European and American sports cars, 50s chrome beauties, muscle cars from the 1960s, hot rods and motorcycles. Grandparents, moms, dads and especially the kids will have a wonderful time admiring the kinetic art represented by generations of mobile transportation.

The Paradise Valley Police Department will be showing off their electric motorcycle.

The cycle is manufactured by Zero and will go from 0 to 60 MPH in 2.8 seconds! There will be a police department representative ready to tell you all about this very fast and interesting bike.

We invite you to come to Town Hall Saturday morning, Nov. 9 and participate in this classic automotive celebration.

If you would like, grab a lawn chair and settle in along the tour route (as described above) that begins at Town Hall at 11:15 and let the car show come to you. See you then...

Editor’s Note: Ed Winkler is the car show event chair and a former Paradise Valley mayor.
