Wainwright: When all goes wrong, technology goes right

Posted

On March 17, I had the somewhat dubious distinction of chairing Paradise Valley’s first virtual Planning Commission meeting.

My fellow Commissioners and I were able to “attend” the meeting from the safety of our homes via video conferencing, while the mayor and town planning staff presented the necessary information from Town Hall, for the commission to hold a public hearing.

We then voted for the approval of an important piece of infrastructure.

The town government’s ability to adapt to the current, difficult situation, while conducting necessary business, and its commitment to keeping the volunteers and public safe, is truly commendable.
