UMOM wins new truck to help with services

UMOM New Day Centers won a Ford-150 pick-up truck at the Waste Management Phoenix Open for the “Drive for Your Ride” competition.
On Feb. 1, the “Drive for Your Ride” competition provided an opportunity for the PGA tour player closest to the 16th pin after the first two rounds to win a 2020 Ford vehicle and donate one to a charity as well, according to a press release.
The vehicle, donated by Arizona Ford Dealers, will be used by UMOM case managers to help clients search for available housing and then move their belongings from the emergency shelter to their new home, the release said.
“The Arizona Ford Dealers are thrilled that UMOM New Day Centers was chosen to receive a new Ford F-150 truck. We are proud to be able to help an organization that gives so much back to the local community and to deserving families right here in Arizona,” said John Nissen, chairman emeritus, Desert Ford Dealers, in a prepared statement.
Canadian professional golfer, Mackenzie Hughes, who was the competition winner and his wife studied the 11 eligible charities for an hour before selecting UMOM New Day Centers, said the release, adding that Mr. Hughes loved the idea of supporting a local charity aimed at ending homelessness.
