Phoenix Country Day School keeps sights on potential reopen

Phoenix Country Day School has yet to announce if its school would close for the remainder of the school year, sticking with its original plan of remaining closed until at least April 30.

Head of School Andrew Rodin provided an update to the school community March 30, the same day Gov. Doug Ducey announced the closing of all public and charter schools through the end of the school year.

Mr. Rodin said he is “constantly gathering pertinent information” and remaining in contact with other private schools in the area to determine what the future might look like for PCDS students.

He said there are still 10 weeks until graduation and he would like to see students “enjoy even a small taste of the year-end festivities that they so deserve.” For this reason, Mr. Rodin has decided to not to close the school through the end of the school year.

Many schools began restrictions and closures in mid-March with potential end dates in place. With the closures lasting through the end of the school year, the Arizona Interscholastic Association also announced the cancellation of its spring sports.
