Paradise Valley Police Department commends Skinner for life-saving efforts

The Paradise Valley Police Department recently recognized Ofc. James Skinner with a Lifesaving Award when he responded to an Emergency Medical Service call for an intoxicated man.

The man allegedly punched through a window of a residence and suffered severe lacerations and serious blood loss, according to a police press release. After Skinner located the man, with a laceration on his arm, in the residence, he applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding.

Skinner even noticed a second severe laceration on the man’s leg and applied pressure to reduce bleeding until medical personnel arrived. He reportedly remained calm during what was noted as a hectic environment while giving regular radio updates of the man’s condition.

Other officers on scene assisted by reportedly keeping the “intoxicated and emotional friends away while lifesaving efforts were enacted.”
