Beth Ami Temple, a Jewish reform congregation that limits its membership to adults, is inviting all adults who would like to learn more about the congregation’s religious and social activities to a Wine and Cheese Open House Sept. 16 from 6:30–7:30 p.m.

According to a press release, the wine and cheese event is an opportunity to meet Rabbi Allison Lawton and cantorial soloist Michael Robbins and mingle with current members and other guests while learning about the congregation’s High Holiday and Shabbat services.

“Our dues are modest, but our membership is dynamic and so very engaged that being a member is a real joy,” President Judy Lohr-Safcik said in the release. “It’s the Valley’s best kept secret and we are inviting adults seeking Jewish religious affiliation and social connections.”

The open house will include a summary of the many social groups, including Torah study, movies, book club, hiking, Bridge, Mahjong, dining, travel and fitness. Temple representatives will be available to speak about other Beth Ami activities such as special holiday observances during the year, guest speakers, musical concerts and community involvement projects.

Beth Ami Temple is a warm and friendly congregation of active adults seeking Jewish religious and social connections and has been a place of worship and connection for over 40 years, the press release stated. The temple has no building fund, modest dues and streams its Friday night services for those who are unable to attend in person.

After the Wine and Cheese Open House, there is a Friday night Shabbat service for people to get a sense of why Beth Ami is known as a “small temple with a big heart”.
