Paradise Valley DAR chapter hosts Wreaths Across America Mobile Exhibit on April 21

Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit announces the touring display’s arrival on Wednesday, April 21 in Phoenix.

Free admission and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to a press release, the event is in the parking lot of the North Phoenix Baptist Church on the corner of Bethany Home Road and Central Avenue, adjacent to the weekly Farmer’s Market.

“The goal of the Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit—MEE—is to bring communities together and to teach patriotism, while remembering the service and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes,” said Karen Worcester, Wreaths Across America executive director, in a prepared statement.

“However, over the last year, in light of the current COVID crisis, we feel this exhibit has taken on even more meaning by providing the opportunity for people to safely participate in something that is both educational and inspiring, while supporting and giving back to the communities it visits.”

The MEE achieves this goal, the release said, by bringing the local community, veterans, active-duty military and their families together through interactive exhibits, short films, and shared stories.

“This exhibit serves as a mobile museum, educating visitors about the service and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes,” said Carolyn Rearley, honorary regent for the Paradise Valley Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, in a prepared statement. “We want to honor local military members and show our thanks for their service.”

Ms. Rearley added each year, as a community service, during the holidays, local DAR members lay fresh wreaths on the gravesite of veterans who are buried in the National Memorial Cemetery.

One of the event’s sponsors, the DAR is an organization devoted to preserving American history, offers programs promoting patriotism and completes community service projects. DAR members can trace their lineage to ancestors who served in the American Revolution, added the release.
