Modified format for March 18 Queen Creek Town Council meeting

When the Queen Creek Town Council on March 18 discusses starting a police force, contracting with a nearby agency or continuing with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office for law enforcement, it will be with no one in the live audience but essential staff members. The change is in response to helping slow the spread of COVID-19.

"The Town of Queen Creek is committed to helping slow the spread of COVID-19, according to a release.

"Following the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to avoid gatherings of 10 or more people, as well as federal and state emergency declarations related to COVID-19, for the March 18 Queen Creek Town Council meeting physical attendance in the Council Chambers will be limited to members of the Town Council and necessary staff only. Some members of the Town Council and staff may attend electronically," the release states.

The council is to meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Queen Creek Community Chambers, 20727 E. Civic Parkway, for ceremonial matters, committee reports and public comment before adjourning to closed-door executive sessions. Public hearings can be held at any time during the meeting.

The public and media can access the Town Council meeting online at QueenCreek.org and follow the instructions to:

  • Submit a comment online (it will be entered into the official record) --- at PublicMeeting@QueenCreek.org.

Residents are encouraged to follow recommendations provided by the CDC:

  • People who are sick should stay home
  • Take care to wash your hands for at least 20 seconds
  • Use a tissue when you cough or sneeze and throw the tissue the away
  • If you need to seek medical care, before going to your doctor’s office, call ahead and tell them about your symptoms
  • Avoid social gatherings in groups of more than 10 people
  • High risk groups (older adults and people with underlying health conditions) stay home as much as possible, have enough household items and groceries on hand if you need to stay home and monitor your health
