Military moms receive a Star-Spangled Babies baby shower

Posted

For Military Appreciation Month, 50 new and expecting military moms were given a baby shower hosted by Operation Homefront.

A Star-Spangled Babies shower was recently held at Runbeck Election Services’ headquarters in Phoenix, according to a press release, detailing how Runbeck regularly works with nonprofits to provide financial, in-kind and volunteer support.

Runbeck even launched the Feed ‘em Food Fight Challenge to help its partners’ countrywide, at the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, giving tools and support to organize and replenish the local food banks, the release said .

“Due to deployments and frequent relocation, military parents-to-be often live far from their extended families and support systems,” said Leticia Pena, Operation Homefront program manager, in a prepared statement.

“Our Star-Spangled Babies showers provide these new and expectant parents with early childhood education tips and a support system when loved ones are far away.”

Every parent, the release said, received donated gifts and educational information to help them in their new role as a mother at the event, which was open to military moms in all ranks of active duty, Guard and Reserve families, as well as families of wounded, ill, and injured veterans.

“Partnering with Operation Homefront to host the Star-Spangled Babies shower was a truly wonderful experience; all of the military moms and moms-to-be were so grateful for the opportunity to participate,” said Runbeck Human Resources Manager Elizabeth Sommers in a prepared statement.

“We are always eager to offer our facilities and volunteer power to support important community causes.”

In addition to the signature Star-Spangled Babies event, Operation Homefront provides financial assistance, transitional and permanent housing and family support services to prevent short-term needs from turning into chronic, long-term struggles, noted the release.

Operation Homefront — a national nonprofit organization with a mission to build strong, stable, and secure military families so that they can thrive not simply struggle to get by in communities — is preparing for its annual Back to School Brigade, offering hundreds of military children a backpack and school supplies for the 2021-2022 school year.

Runbeck Elections Services is an elections technology solutions company that develops and provides equipment, software, election management systems along with print and mail production.

Since 1972, the release noted that Runbeck has “preserved the integrity of the American democratic process by partnering with cities, counties and states to provide a trusted election experience” to deliver accurate, efficient and secure elections in over 22 states and the District of Columbia, reaching nearly 40% of voters nationwide.
