Snell & Wilmer announces that Anthony W. Merrill has become a fellow of the American College of Coverage Counsel.

He joins the preeminent association representing the interests of insurers and policyholders in disputes arising out of insurance policies, according to a press release.

“I am honored to be selected as a Fellow of the ACCC,” said Mr. Merrill in a prepared statement.

“This recognition acknowledges the strength and depth of our insurance coverage practice and I look forward to the opportunities the ACCC will provide to enhance the service we provide to our policyholder clients.”

The ACCC, established in 2012, is an invitation-only organization of senior lawyers who have devoted most of their practice to insurance disputes for 15 years or more.

ACCC Fellows include many prominent members of the insurance law bars of the U.S. and Canada, as well as Honorary Fellows from academia and the judiciary.

The ACCC focuses on educating all sectors involved in the field of insurance law – including the judiciary, legal and insurance professionals, law students and businesses – on cutting-edge, emerging, issues developing in insurance law and bad faith, trial practice and alternative dispute resolution, policy formation and claims handling, noted the release.

“The ACCC is delighted to welcome Anthony as the latest member to become actively involved in its work,” said Michael Aylward, president of ACCC, in a prepared statement.

Mr. Merrill’s experience in complex disputes enables him to “bring unique problem-solving approaches to clients, according to the release. He assists clients in obtaining insurance coverage for policyholders on catastrophic commercial claims.

His experience includes latent or long-tail environmental, property damage and bodily injury claims, civil disputes involving data security and cyber insurance coverage, and more, the release added.
