Meet the Artist: Alexis Janae to perform at Canal Convergence
Posted
Alexis Janae is looking forward to performing a couple of original works with her good friend, Tj, who is also an artist, at this year’s Canal Convergence on Nov. 11.
The Chandler resident shares information about her artistic endeavors and aspirations with the Independent below:
I’m currently working on: An album, with a plethora of singles already released. I just recently released a documentary for my single “What Love Feels Like (Live),” which you can find on YouTube.
I was inspired to be an artist by: How music made me feel. Music is in us every day; there’s a song for every moment in life, and just to imagine the type of effect that I could have on someone’s life is the reason I do it.
The challenges of living/creating artwork are: There are many challenges of creating artwork. A few would be the opinions that come with it. The perfectionist: nothing is ever good enough at some point. The writer’s block: I could go months without writing anything. It could all be so stressful, especially living in an era where time is essential.
I chose to participate in Canal Convergence because: I love supporting any and everything locally. I hope I can inspire and be inspired by what I’ll be experiencing for the first time.
Other activities I enjoy are: There are so many things that I enjoy doing. I really enjoy hosting small get-togethers at my house with friends, seeing local bands play in my down time, traveling, seeing what the world has to offer. I like experimenting in the kitchen so that means I also love to eat.
If I had four hours with absolutely nothing to do on a Saturday, here’s how I would spend it: Sleep!
My No. 1 suggestion to new artists is: Be true to you.
