Locke gets Town of Paradise Valley Planning Commission seat

Posted

Kristina Locke, principal/director of business development at Coe & Van Loo Consultants, has been appointed to the Town of Paradise Valley Planning Commission for a three-year term.

Locke, who has been with CVL for six years, joins the seven-resident commission appointed by the Town Council, according to a press release.

The commission provides recommendations on a range of land-use issues including subdivision plats, lot splits, zoning ordinance amendments, Special Use Permits, and general plan amendments. The Planning Commission is also the primary entity responsible for long-term, comprehensive planning and often acts as the advisory committee on long term plans.

“I’m honored to be appointed,” said Locke in a prepared statement. “As a resident, I’m excited to be a part of the process to provide meaningful input towards preserving the town’s legacy and character.”

Locke has more than 20-years experience in marketing and business development; eight years in the architecture/engineering/construction field specializing in the civil engineering, land planning, land surveying, stormwater management and water/wastewater sectors, the release said.

In her role at CVL, Locke coordinates with leadership at the cities of Phoenix, Peoria, Tempe, and Mesa; Arizona State University; and EPCOR Water to review the capital improvement plans and budgets. She identifies the engineering needs of various agencies and aligns the appropriate service to various projects.

Acquiring numerous high-profile accounts, she developed strategic marketing initiatives, and launched multi-media campaigns national and local for CVL, the release said, adding how she leads the firm’s business development efforts, drives brand recognition, and helps boost business expansion.

“I want to congratulate Kristina on her appointment,” said CVL President Ryan Weed in a prepared statement.

“Her interest in serving Paradise Valley on the Commission is an example of her nature. Her work ethic and connection to her community have made her an excellent choice for this role. Her past project involvement, design sense, and working knowledge of the Town code will help to ensure her feedback balances the best interests of the Town and applicant.”

The Paradise Valley resident has a bachelor of science degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia, according to the release.

She is active in the AEC industry as board member of the Arizona Public Works Association, chair of the Arizona Public Works Association Programs Committee, co-chair of the Valley Partnership Events Committee, and past chair of AAED’s Charity Luncheon, a position she held for four consecutive years.

Locke gives back to the community and has dedicated her time to charities such as StreetLightUSA foster care organization, Horses with Heart and Arizona Angels for Children.
