George Joseph Roberts Junior

Posted

Born to George Roberts and Francis Grebe, on December 26, 1926, at Ozone Park, New York, passed quietly on August 14, 2020 at the age of 93.
George served honorably in the US Navy from 1944 thru 1946 in a Naval Combat Battalion (CB). He received ribbons for the American Theatre, Victory, Asiatic Pacific, and Philippine Liberation.
Upon returning home he met and married Patricia Ann Renison Ells, from Westbury, NY and soon after had a son, Douglas. George worked for the Long Island Railroad, and later the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. After 31 years retired, and with his wife traveled and finally settled in Sun City, Arizona.
George was a former member of The Sun City Shooters, life member of the NRA, life member of N.S.V.A. (Island X-5), National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees Inc, former Sun City Block Watch, Hearing Impaired Association (Sun City) and along with his wife Patricia, were volunteers at Banner Del Web and Sun Health.
George leaves behind his sweet wife of 71 years, Patricia and his son, Douglas. Members of the Altieri and Dougherty Families, the extended families of; Christine and Dennis Monahan, Bette and Frank Fabyan, and Fendon and Jeanette Starr. The love, kindness and family unity shown was and has always been invaluable to my father, mother, and myself. We know and would like to remember friends and neighbors who are saddened at his passing.
At my father’s request and direction, there will be no service, no viewing. He will be cremated and placed at a veteran’s cemetery, with honors, to await his sweet wife’s arrival.
George was an honest, hardworking, true to his word, devoted husband, and father. He sat tall in the saddle, looked straight ahead, got it done. You are and will forever be missed. May the man upstairs bring you eternal peace and love. We’ll see ya when we get there. Condolences may be shared at www.menkefuneralhome.com
