Family Promise of Greater Phoenix receives $10K donation

Posted

Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance recently announced a $10,000 donation to Family Promise of Greater Phoenix that will be used to help fund the daycare.

Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance historically support local and national causes on the corporate level through Liberty Mutual Foundation, Safeco Foundation, the employee involvement program Liberty Torchbearers, as well as its Independent Agent Giving programs, according to a press release.

The two agencies have committed to invest $375,000 into local nonprofits in 2020 through the Independent Agent Giving programs, Make More Happen and Change Agents in addition to $1 million for the emergency community support grants.

Nominated by Dave Binsfeld of General Southwest Insurance Agency, as part of an Emergency Community Support Grant to help independent agents give back to the community during the COVID-19 crisis, Family Promise of Greater Phoenix  will solely benefit from the $10,000 donation, according to the release.

The nonprofit organization that reduces family homelessness was also the first shelter in the United States to accommodate family dogs and cats so  families do not have to give up their beloved pet to enter shelters, the release said.

Family Promise of Greater Phoenix, empowered by a network of interfaith volunteers and community services, provides shelter, compassion, assistance and life skills training to return families to self-sufficiency and sustainable housing.

“My team and I have recognized the hard work and dedication performed by Family Promise of Greater Phoenix during this pandemic and we are incredibly thankful for Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance for stepping up to the plate and providing extra funds to help the community when we need it most,” said Dave Binsfeld with General Southwest Insurance Agency in a prepared statement.

“Family Promise of Greater Phoenix has been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 crisis and the $10,000 donation will help them continue to make a difference in the community they serve.”

Homelessness amongst local families will increase due to the economic hardships, according to the release, detailing how Family Promise is highly-effective in moving families from homelessness to self-sustainability.

Plus, with schools closed, Family Promise is providing daycare for children who would normally be in school, the release said of parents needing to “do the things needed to achieve sustainability.”

“With the coronavirus pandemic, we have had to abandon our community-based model and shelter the families we are serving in emergency shelters at our day centers,” said Ted Taylor, Family Promise of Greater Phoenix executive director, in a prepared statement.

“We are so thankful to General Southwest Insurance, Liberty Mutual, and Safeco Insurance for their contributions that help support our families during this challenging time.”

Family Promise of Greater Phoenix is sheltering more than a dozen families at their day center in south Scottsdale and relies on its volunteer network to provide meals to the families, noted the release.

“The goal of the Emergency Community Support Grants is to help our independent agents make an immediate impact during this critical time in the local communities where we live and work,” said Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance Independent Agent Giving Program Manager Alexis Holzer in a prepared statement.
