D-backs donate $100K in COVID-19 relief to Human Services Campus

Human Services Campus, Inc. has received $100,000 from the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation for COVID-19 relief funding.

“These critical funds enable the Human Services Campus to adapt our client services because of the COVID-19 pandemic at a time when individuals experiencing homelessness are among the most vulnerable,” HSC Executive Director Amy Schwabenlender said in a prepared statement.

“Those who are experiencing homelessness have no homes to shelter from both the weather and the pandemic. The Diamondbacks have been among our most consistent and generous supporters over the past 15 years and these funds are particularly important in these unprecedented times.”

The funding is being used to purchase personal protective equipment for HSC and other partner organizations’ staff, increased cleaning supplies and services, expanded staffing and security and heat relief, among other needs, according to a press release.

The campus is operating under strict health and safety protocols, which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention established, and is adhering to required guidelines with county health officials, Ms. Schwabenlender said.

D-backs president and CEO Derrick Hall said he is proud of the team’s partnership with HSC as both organizations work toward the goal of addressing homelessness and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the community.

“Individuals experiencing homelessness are at even greater risk and the Arizona Diamondbacks Foundation is proud to provide this funding during these challenging times,” he said in a prepared statement.
