Celebrity chef Beau MacMillan leads new Scottsdale restaurant

Cala set to open this month inside Old Town hotel

Clive Collective, a Scottsdale-based restaurant group featuring purveyors of unique, elevated experiences, has announced its latest concept, Cala, at Scottsdale’s newest Old Town hotel Senna House, located at 7501 E. Camelback Road.

Cala is slated to open in January 2022.

Cala offers an escape to the Mediterranean from the heart of Scottsdale’s entertainment district, serving farm-fresh coastal cuisine inspired by flavors of Greece, Spain, Italy, Morocco and every place along the Mediterranean coastline.

Reminiscent of the laid-back seaside restaurants along the coast, Cala provides a spacious yet intimate atmosphere for endless celebration throughout the day and night, according to a press release.

Chef Beau MacMillan, an internationally-known chef and Food Network personality, serves as the culinary director of Cala, with the day-to-day operations executed by MacMillan’s dream team: General Manager Rob Mier, an experienced hospitality industry veteran, as well as Executive Chef Peter McQuaid and master cocktail curator Clint Spotleson (known as Spotty).

As culinary advisor of Sanctuary Camelback Mountain, MacMillan will continue to bring national recognition and acclaim to its property.

Dishes are simple yet unexpected, featuring cuisine straight from the coastal regions where staples are handmade pastas, fresh cheeses, breads, locally-grown vegetables and fresh seafood. The menu is inspired by healthy and seasonal ingredients, and the cocktail program is unmatched, focusing on fresh local ingredients and refreshing flavors. Guests can also choose from an extensive wine and beer list.

“Cala is a place that guests will find themselves not wanting to leave; it’s vibrant with great energy creating an immersive environment with an experience that offers something for everyone,” said MacMillan. “We’ve intentionally created a modern establishment with a perfectly curated vibe and approachable food that is incredibly cared for alongside unforgettable cocktails.”

Cala is situated on the ground floor of Senna House offering an integrated indoor/outdoor experience with nearly 5,000 square feet plus a 1,750 square-foot exterior patio with a 40-foot patio bar, cabanas and lush landscaping.

Clive Collective was founded by like-minded individuals with decades of experience creating authentic and inspiring hospitality experiences that keep guests entertained and delighted. The group is led by co-founders and hospitality veterans Mikis Troyan and Justin Massei, and features a collective of leading industry professionals.

Most recently, Clive Collective opened Money, Baby!, an interactive establishment located at the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas that combines unparalleled sports viewing experiences with sports betting, interactive games, innovative food and cocktails. MacMillan also oversees the culinary direction at Money, Baby!, and is director of culinary operations for Clive Collective.

“We don’t do anything basic in the concepts we dream up at Clive Collective,” said Troyan, co-founder and managing partner. “We are constantly seeking out awe-inspiring opportunities that will truly wow guests, from the environment, to the food and drinks, to the service and the entertainment. Cala will be unlike anything else in Scottsdale and we can’t wait to create memorable experiences for our guests.”

Cala is now accepting reservations for mid-January. For more information, visit www.calascottsdale.com or email info@calascottsdale.com.
