Paradise Valley residents will be able to attend a special day-long program on pandemic coping skills for no charge, thanks to a Town of Paradise Valley grant to the Franciscan Renewal Center, commonly known as also called “the Casa.”
“Pandemic Stress Management and Recovery” will be a day-long program presented by Ryan Sheade, LCSW, counseling director at the Casa, along with other therapists who offer donation-based counseling at the renewal center.
The programs, according to a press release, are designed to help cope with the emotional stresses which have resulted from the coronavirus virus and the related pandemic lockdown and sequestering.
Presentations will include a focus on self-care, parenting and family stress, loneliness, and marriage issues. There will also be question and answer sessions.
Programs will be offered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays — Sept. 12, Oct. 10, and Nov. 14 — at the Franciscan Renewal Center, 5802 E. Lincoln Drive. The program includes a boxed lunch, the release said.
Due to the uncertainties of the coronavirus, possibly the scheduled dates may be changed. But masks and social distancing may be mandatory.
Thirty Paradise Valley residents will be offered full scholarships but must register in advance by calling Lora Nelson at 480-948-7460, ext. 151 or emailing lnelson@thecasa.org.
Ten scholarships for residents will be provided at each event. Nonresidents will be charged $50 for the event.
