Adler: Paradise Valley mailbox assault

Posted

This time of year we look forward to opening our mail box.

We reach in and extract of fistful of holiday greetings, New Years wishes, and pictures and notes from friends and family we only hear from but once a year.

This year a different greeting, filled with hate and bitterness, was tucked into my pile of seasonal well-wishes. A post card printed in a familiar, piercing yellow and black slung hateful words at me. “Murderer.”

The Brown family had their day in court and lost. They appealed and lost, twice.

They are suing so many people and have so many bankruptcy filings that a public records request online is almost enough to cause my browser to crash.

Their house is up for auction because they haven’t paid the mortgage since long before Howard Brown was killed, but yet they have the funds to antagonize every resident of Paradise Valley.

It’s bad enough to drive past the yard signs, or to have a poster waved in my face while I’m stopped at a traffic light, but now this has gone too far. You have invaded my property, sent this to my home, brought it to my doorstep.

I do not wish to be bombarded by your messages of anger and hate towards our town, the people who lead it, and the police force that protects it.

If Paradise Valley is such a terrible place to you, then leave, but please don’t try to bring the rest of us down to your level.

Editor's Note: Elizabeth Adler is a resident of Paradise Valley.
