Two businesses opening first Goodyear locations this week

Ribbon cutting ceremonies planned this week represent a couple of firsts for the growing city of Goodyear.

Advance Auto Parts and Shooter’s World will each open their first Goodyear locations to the public this week.

Advance Auto Parts, which is based in North Carolina, will open on Thursday, Oct. 21, at 660 N Dysart Road. The company currently has 10 Valley locations in Glendale, Phoenix, Chandler, Scottsdale and Mesa, but its Goodyear location will be the first to serve the southwest Valley.

Indoor gun range and firearm retailer Shooter’s World is opening its 36,000-square-foot facility on Friday, Oct. 22, at 13740 W. Auto Drive. The facility will be open for retail and educational purposes, but Goodyear gun fans will have to wait until next year to enjoy the city’s first indoor gun range, which won’t be completed until early 2022.

Once operational, the range will include 24 climate-controlled shooting lanes. The locally-owned company, which operates two other locations in Phoenix and Peoria, announced that its Goodyear location is expected to bring 50 jobs to the area.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony for Advance Auto Parts will take place Thursday, Oct. 21, at noon and the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Shooter’s World will take place on Friday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m.
