Matthew Williams, former town manager of Huachuca City, was named as Litchfield Park’s new assistant city manager. He began Monday, Dec. 30.

City manager Bill Stephens selected Mr. Williams, 36, from 55 applicants. Mr. Williams will take the position of Sonny Culbreth, who is retiring.

“He’s a great young man with a lot energy he brings to the table,” Mr. Stephens said. “He has a lot of experience in economic development and community programs and parks and recreation and some other areas besides being city manager.”

Before Huachuca City, Mr. Williams worked for the town of Pinetop-Lakeside and two cities in Georgia, where he is from. Mr. Williams holds an associate degree from Young Harris College in Young Harris, Georgia, a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Government & History from the University of North Georgia and a Master of Public Administration in Public Administration & Policy from Auburn University.
