Lois Emma Manos

Posted

Lois, 87, gently passed away at home in Sun City West, AZ, with her daughter, Nancy, and niece, Terry, by her side. Lois was born in Valley City, ND. Her family moved to Spokane, WA when she was a little girl. She graduated from Rogers High School.
She married her high school sweetheart, George Manos, in 1951 and had an amazing, romantic, love affair for 49 years until he passed in 2001. They moved 69 times in 43 years moving around the USA then overseas to Iran, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, and Australia until they finally retired in Sun City West, AZ in 1993.
Lois was a dental assistant for 18 years and loved her work in dentistry until leaving her career behind when she became pregnant with her only child at the age of 35. She supported her husband’s career including events such as being the host and hostess for the rollout of the 747 with Boeing.
Her granddaughter, Shandra, was the apple of her eye and would spend many summers with her going to museums, theater productions, singing and sharing her love of books. She was wise and optimistic with her rose colored glasses because her philosophy was that you have a choice of what you see in the world around you and life is too short to be miserable.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Manos, her father, Alvin Maine, her mother, Minnie Maine, her brothers, Richard, Dwaine, and Allan. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Manos, her granddaughter, Shandra Manos, her sister, Marilyn Morkve, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in her name to the Nadaburg Unified School District. Please join the family in sharing memories, pictures or videos on the tribute wall for Lois at www.caminodelsol.com.
