Liberty's Wallace works overtime to win player of the week

Liberty senior running back Zach Wallace did his best running after regulation in the Lions' 41-38 win at rival Sunrise Mountain Sept. 17, scoring all three of his team's overtime touchdowns.

It was enough for Wallace to win the West Valley Preps football player of the week vote for week 3.

Wallace rushed for 110 yards on 19 carries. He won with 663 of the 1,603 votes cast.

Mountain Ridge senior backup quarterback placed second with 315  votes for his star turn against Centennial. In the Mountain Lions 39-35 rout comeback win against the Coyotes, Finch completed 15-27 passes for 215 yards, five touchdowns, four interceptions and had 12 carries for 88 yards and another

In third place was Millennium sophomore running back Zues Pinder with 237 votes. Millennium beat 6A team Boulder Creek  41-37 behind his 16 carries for 232 yards and two touchdowns.

For the sixth straight year, player of the week honorees, including Wallace, will win more than bragging rights.

Celebrity Tux and Tails, returns as the sponsor of the player of the week poll. The store, at 9240 W. Northern Ave., Suite 103-A in Peoria, will provide each winner a free rental redeemable any time this school year.
