Kiwanis Club donates $10,000 for Litchfield Park Rec Center resurfacing project

Basketball and tennis players who have noticed a smoother surface on the courts at the Litchfield Park Recreation Center have the city and Kiwanis Club of Litchfield to thank for the improvements.

The courts were closed from Aug. 10 through 25 for resurfacing, Youth and Sports Coordinator Pat McCoy said via email. Total cost of the project was $25,382.61; $10,000 of which was donated by the club.

“The city of Litchfield Park wishes to thank Kiwanis Club of Litchfield for the generous donation to help get this project completed,” Mr. McCoy said. “This generous donation highly improved the courts and will help keep these courts in use for years to come.”

The courts at the Rec Center, 100 N. Litchfield Road, are used for tennis classes and youth basketball practices.

They are open to the public from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday with the purchase of a daily Rec Center pass or membership, Mr. McCoy said.
