Margaret L. Tomkins

Margaret (Maggie) passed away peacefully at her home in Sun City, AZ, on September 29th. Margaret was born, January 12, 1932 in Glendale, AZ, the daughter of Carl and Iola (Wilkirson) McCaughey.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Edward; sons, Mark (Victoria) and Joe; daughter, Linda Fricano (Tony); daughter-in-law, Patrice Tomkins; six grandchildren: Jason Tomkins, Ian Tomkins (Libby), Ryan Tomkins (Bre), Cassidy Tomkins, Janelle Tomkins and James Tomkins; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; son, Michael; and brothers, Jim and Jerry.
When she was 10 years old, Margaret moved with her family from Arizona to Illinois.
She graduated from Cuba High School in 1950 and Western Illinois University in 1966. The latter while raising four children. She taught Kindergarten in Canton, IL for 25 years. Retiring in 1989.
Following retirement, Maggie and Ed moved to Sun City, Arizona, where she continued her hobbies of golf, ceramics and silver craft. She won many golf tournaments; had three hole-in-one’s and won 2 Bronze medals at the Senior Olympics.
She loved traveling and had been to all 50 states and 4 continents. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
