State grant boosts Goodyear police DUI enforcement effort

The state  has provided $60,000 to the Goodyear Police Department to enhance the city's DUI enforcement effort.

The money from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety will be used for overtime, public education events and the Know Your Limit campaigns during the 2023 fiscal year, Goodyear officials said.

The grant also will help the department buy a  new Intoxilyzer 9000, which tests breath for  alcohol.

According to the city, Goodyear officers "will engage in enforcement, education and public awareness throughout the year.

"Goodyear police will host three DUI task force events and participate in additional DUI task force events throughout the year."
