The American Association of University Women’s (AAUW) Northwest Valley Branch will host its first Summer Survivor Luncheon this month in the West Valley.

The AAUW advances gender equity for women and girls through research, education and advocacy, and the Northwest Valley Branch is one of 14 branches in Arizona. Arizona is part of the Rocky Mountain Region of the AAUW.

The Northwest Valley Branch was granted official recognition by the AAUW in 1980. Originally formed as the Sun City West Branch, the name was changed to the Northwest Valley Branch in 2002 with members from Glendale, Peoria, Sun City West, Sun City Grand, Surprise, Sun City, El Mirage, Buckeye and Cave Creek. Members include both full-time and winter residents. Several members maintain dual membership with their home state.

The luncheon starts at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 20 at Angela’s Kitchen in Sun City Grand, at 19900 N. Remington Drive, Surprise.

Guests are welcome. The luncheons take place every third Thursday in May, June, July and August.

RSVP by calling 612-799-5474 or emailing shrnphelps45@gmail.com by Friday, May 14.

AAUW membership is open to anyone holding an associates degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university. For Northwest Valley Branch membership information, call Betty Merwin at 623-986-0165.
