Glendale's Stir Crazy Comedy Club has canceled all shows in July due to the recent spike in cases of the coronavirus in the state. The club's next show on their schedule is a stand up class showcase Sunday, Aug. 2. The original story follows.
Glendale will host comedian Jay Penn for weekend gigs.
The Arizona-based comic has sets at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 2; 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday, July 3; and 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday, July 4 at Stir Crazy Comedy Club, 6751 N. Sunset Blvd., Suite E-206.
After moving here in the early 2000s, Mr. Penn won the “Funniest Person in the Valley” contest three times, an honor that has allowed him to open for nationally recognized comics like Larry the Cable Guy, Jim Breuer and Billy Ray Cyrus. His act consists mainly of funny stories called from life with his wife and family.
Mr. Penn takes audiences on a ride from child birth to adolescence, entertaining audiences from California to New York.
Stir Crazy places a high priority on safety for staff and customers.
Seating capacity will be reduced to 50 percent; guests will be seated with social distancing in mind and parties will be limited to no more than 10; tables, chairs, and table lights will be cleaned with single use sanitizer wipes after each show; face masks will be worn by servers, food runners, and cooks; disposable paper menus will be given to guests; and packaged disposable utensil and napkins will be available on request.
