Three Rivers Historical Society, which is dedicated to preserving the history of the Southwest Valley, is looking for stories from veterans for the fall edition of its newsletter, The Quarterly.
“If you are a veteran and would like to send me a story, I would be very grateful,” said Sally Kiko, an author and historical society board member. “It can be something that happened while you were in the service that was funny, sad or interesting.”
Stories do not have to be long, nor do they have to have perfect spelling and grammar, Ms. Kiko said.
“We all have stories. I recently received a family history about a man I knew as a lawyer. Come to find out, he was also a farmer and a pilot in the National Guard. The Aragon family of Avondale had five sons serving in WWII at the same time,” she said. “What’s your story?”
Submission deadline is Tuesday, Sept. 15. Word files may be emailed to Ms. Kiko at email@example.com. Typed or handwritten submissions may be mailed to her at 11383 S. Oakwood Drive, Goodyear, AZ 85338.
