Glendale police respond to incident 'with a gun' at Arrowhead Towne Center

Posted

UPDATE: The Glendale Police Department shared new details on Monday, Jan. 3 at around noon:

On Sunday, Jan. 2, just after 4 p.m., officers responded to Arrowhead Towne Center for a call of a subject with a gun. Further information stated there were possible shots fired.

Due to what was believed to be a shooting at the time the mall was evacuated, police reported.

A suspect description was provided to police and a person was detained after he exited the mall. Through the investigation it was determined an employee from the food court became engaged in a verbal argument with three customers. The employee exited the mall, obtained a gun from his vehicle and returned to confront the other individuals with his gun holstered.

A witness yelled out there was a gun, and in the process of customers leaving the food court, several chairs were overturned causing a sound that mimicked gunfire.

Surveillance video and witness information provided proved no shots were ever fired. The investigation determined there were no shots fired, no weapon was produced and the detained individual was released.
