Peoria couple reinvents their Glendale business

Gene and Jo Ann Taylor’s travel-specific business, The Walking Connection and iConquer Adventures has been hit hard by stay-at-home orders and restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Their global adventure travel business at 6635 W. Happy Valley Road Suite A104-410 in Glendale has been in operation for 31 years, and the outbreak has effectively closed the the North Peoria residents’ business since February. That will likely extend through the end of the year.

As a result, the couple has reimaged its approach.

“If we can’t bring our guests to the world, can we bring the world to our guests?”, Gene pondered in a news release. “Yes, we can.”

With thousands of photos of skies, landscapes and wildlife to share, Gene and Jo Ann have created the Adventure Travel Photo Shop.

In the shop, “Gene’s Journey” is a curated collection of fine art prints designed to bring a bit of the world captured by Gene and Jo Ann to customers at home or to their office and place of business. Customers can order customized wall art, home décor, stationary and more through the Walking Connection website here.

The Walking Connection, launched in 1989, leads walking and hiking adventures and has guided thousands of people on experiential vacations on six continents. Destinations include Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, the Camino de Santiago from Portugal to Spain, the Incan Ruins at Machu Picchu, Peru, the Serengeti in Tanzania, and more.

At the Grand Canyon and several international destinations, iConquer Adventures provides national non-profit organizations with programming and operations that they use as capital fundraising campaigns.
