Rees: Arizona needs funding for infrastructure

Posted

Funding for infrastructure in Arizona has diminished significantly directly due to the COVID-19 crisis. The pandemic requires an injection of federal funds to help stabilize state and local economies and backstop infrastructure budgets that have been severely impacted. The significant return on investment will create near-term economic recovery, jobs and long-term growth.

In the next package being considered by congress, we urge you Congress to appropriate adequate funding to ensure all federal, state, regional, county and municipal infrastructure programs are held harmless from transportation revenue losses, and that such funding has flexibility enabling it to be directed according to state, regional and local priorities including maintenance.

And to reauthorize the FAST Act for at least six years and significantly increase the funding for all surface transportation programs.

Thank you for your serious consideration.

Sincerely,

Ernest Rees
