Construction begins this month on a section of Union Hills Drive in north Glendale.
The city and its contractor, Achen-Gardner Construction, will start Phase 1 of improvements to its sanitary sewer main along Union Hills. Work begins Monday, Jan. 10 at the Arrowhead Ranch Water Reclamation Facility, 8180 W. Union Hills Drive, and ends mid-block on Union Hills, between 77th and 79th avenues.
This work will include an above ground sewer bypass system, which will be in operation 24/7 throughout construction. There will be no disruption to sewer service.
Work will occur 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some work may take place nights and weekends.
Construction is scheduled to wrap up in June.
General traffic restrictions:
- Union Hills Drive will be reduced to one westbound lane from 77th Avenue to Loop 101
- Left turns will be restricted at the intersection of Union Hills Drive and 77th Avenue
- Watch for left turn restrictions and shifting lanes on 79th Avenue between Kimberly Way and Union Hills Drive
- Access to area businesses and residences will be maintained throughout this area
