Mountain Ridge entrepreneurship program seeking public involvement

The Academy of Entrepreneurship at Mountain Ridge High School, 22800 N. 67th Ave., Glendale, honored as a National Model Academy, is inviting community members to get involved during the 2020-21 school year.

Embedded within the Career and Technical Education (CTE) course offerings, the academy creates future business owners. In the program’s first year three students’ businesses have been launched by high school students on campus.

“There’s a lot to get out of this program. Here is an opportunity for you to give back to your community,” program chairperson Lori Beth Horton stated. “We’re going to need virtual judges for some of our competitions -- get to work with our kids, and learn all kinds of things.

The Academy of Entrepreneurship is a student’s link to careers in entrepreneurship, marketing, hospitality or business management. Students are encouraged to develop projects in areas of specialized interest--such as fashion merchandising, advertising, sports and entertainment marketing, travel and tourism, medical, engineering, innovative apps, or international business. Business plan competitions, internships, workshops, leadership opportunities, travel, and scholarships are all part of the experience.
