Man killed, woman injured in Glendale shooting
Suspect in custody
Posted
A suspect in custody with the Glendale Police Department is facing several felony counts, which include a murder charge.
Officers arrested Vincel Lee Perkins, 50, when witnesses on Nov. 28 called Glendale Police after seeing a vehicle collision in the area of 57th Drive and Glendale Avenue.
A witness made contact with the driver of the vehicle who said she was shot, according to investigators. When police arrived, they located two gunshot victims in the vehicle: an adult male and an adult female.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital. The male was pronounced deceased at the hospital, and the female is listed in stable condition, according to police.
While on scene, police received a 911 call from a person who lived near the scene saying a male came to their home and allegedly said he just shot and killed two people, authorities say. The caller did not let the suspect in the home and then reportedly watched the suspect hide in a shed in their backyard.
Police located the suspect, Mr. Perkins, in the backyard and took him into custody.
During the investigation, police were informed Mr. Perkins was visiting from out of town with family and the male victim. He had previously met the female victim during his visit.
Police say Mr. Perkins got into a vehicle with the two victims. The male victim got into the front seat and Mr. Perkins got into the back seat, while the female victim drove, according to investigators.
Mr. Perkins allegedly told police he believed the male victim had stolen money from his son. While they were traveling, Mr. Perkins allegedly shot the male victim twice and told the female victim to drive somewhere to dump the body. When they got to the area of 57th Drive and Glendale, the suspect allegedly shot the female victim and fled the scene.
The male victim’s identity has not yet been confirmed. The investigation is still ongoing.
Mr. Perkins is facing charges of murder, aggravated assault and misconduct involving weapons.
