Luke Chapter MOAA volunteers participated in “Feed the Need” at Luke Air Force Base, 14185 Falcon St., on May 13.
The Luke AFB Chaplains provide meals, company and religious outreach to airmen every year; however, this year they were not going to be able to provide this service because of lack of funds. This is where Luke Chapter MOAA stepped in.
Luke Chapter MOAA volunteers along with Chaplain’s Prado, Hess, Kleinschmidt and SSgt Lopez handed out 150 meals to over four units spread throughout the base.
“We wouldn’t have been able to spread the goodwill and outreach without the help of Luke Chapter MOAA,” Chaplain Prado stated in a news release.
Box lunches were purchased from Haymaker restaurant. Funding was provided by MOAA Community Foundation, Arizona Department of Veteran Services, Luke Chapter MOAA Community Fund, Inc. and individual member donations.
