Lisa Collins named Glendale's interim Development Services director

Posted

Glendale City Manager Kevin Phelps has appointed Lisa Collins to the position of Interim Development Services Director. Ms. Collins brings nearly 30 years of public service experience to the role, most recently as Glendale’s planning administrator.

“Glendale is a vibrant community that offers something for everyone and is a great place to live, work and play,” Ms. Collins said. “I’m honored to have this opportunity to work with our development services team to implement our City Council’s vision by serving the city and citizens to successfully manage growth and change.”

Collins joined the Glendale team in July of this year after working in similar capacities for the cities of Scottsdale and Tempe as well as for the town of Queen Creek.

In her new role, Ms. Collins will oversee the Building Safety and Planning Divisions. Development Services is the chief regulatory agency for the city and manages investment and growth. It ensures the city’s built-environment meets the expectations of our residents.

“Lisa comes with such great experience working in other cities and we see a strong correlation between her expertise and understanding the roles building safety and planning and zoning play in the success of a project,” Mr. Phelps said. “She has worked closely with city councils, commissions and neighborhood groups and having strong experience with those types of relationships is invaluable for a leadership role covering multiple divisions.”

Ms. Collins has a master’s degree in public administration from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University’s College of Architecture and Environmental design.
