Volunteers spread spooky cheer at Banner Children’s at Thunderbird

Kids at Banner Children’s at Thunderbird in Glendale got a head start on some Halloween fun.

With the big day just a couple days away, the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation brought its BOO Tour to patients at staff at the facility located at 5555 W. Thunderbird Road, Glendale.

Members of the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation surprised patients with a morning of Halloween fun, including a special delivery of spider donuts, dunk-o-lantern donuts, hot chocolate, prizes and more. Hospital staff were also treated to a surprise coffee break and Dunkin’ gift cards.

The Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation partners with food banks, children’s hospitals and nonprofit organizations to fund joyful environments and experiences for kids when they need it most. Since 2006, the Joy in Childhood Foundation has granted more than $40 million to hundreds of national and local charities across the country.

For children who need hospital care, there’s a dedicated area of Banner Thunderbird for kids from birth to 18 years of age that includes 40 pediatric inpatient beds, a separate emergency department for children, and the West Valley’s only pediatric intensive care unit.
