Home and garden show at State Farm Stadium canceled

Per the State of Arizona and the Governor’s office, the July Home & Landscape Show at State Farm Stadium from July 17-19 is officially canceled.

“As we all know, these are very difficult times we’re in and receiving clarity from our local government officials regarding COVID-19 matters and the executive order have been extremely complicated,” according to a statement from the organizers. “Unfortunately, this is one of those circumstances from the executive order that was put in place on June 29.

Organizers say they provided a comprehensive and detailed health and safety documentation in conjunction with the stadium for approval or denial of the event. They said the protocols went above and beyond any previously recommended re-measures — exceeding what’s currently in place at local grocery stores and department store.

“The Home & Landscape Show fell into a grey area in the June 29th executive order where each individual city had the ability to override the Governor’s order if they opted to do so, while following social distancing and the proper health & safety measures,” the statement reads. “Within 24 hours of the order going into effect, our event was not officially canceled, yet deferred to the City of Glendale for ruling. Throughout the next couple of days our extensive proposal was sent back and forth between different Government Agencies and Departments. Ultimately, the City of Glendale was tasked to make the executive decision. However, they continued to defer to additional government departments and agencies to weigh in on the matter. So, based on the latest Declaration on June 29th, we must abide by the Governor’s ruling and cancel the event.”

Organizers says they’re extremely devastated and heartbroken for the local businesses that participate in the show but will continue to follow state guidelines.
