The city of Glendale is hosting a public meeting to review design concepts developed for the Missouri Active Transportation Study.

The meeting will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25 at O’Neil Recreation Center, 6448 W. Missouri Ave.

This project is designed to improve safety and connectivity for pedestrians and bicyclists traveling in the area between Bethany Home Road and Missouri Avenue on the north and south and between 51st and 61st avenues on the east and west.

The city of Glendale, with a grant from the Maricopa Association of Governments, is developing design concepts to close gaps in the sidewalk network and potentially upgrade bicycle facilities in the study area. Sidewalk concepts include the construction of missing sidewalk segments, upgrades to sidewalk curb ramps and to driveway aprons. Other upgrades under evaluation include bike lanes, improved signage, pavement restriping and intersection improvements related to pedestrian and bicycle accommodations.

Call 602-930-2940 or email transportationinfo@glendaleaz.com for more about the project. Interpreter assistance or reasonable accommodations for people with disabilities may be made available with a minimum 72-hour notice. For more information on such accommodations, call Glendale Public Affairs Department at 602-373-1710. Hearing impaired persons may use the Arizona Relay Service (1-800-367-8939).
