Glendale Rotary Club installs new president
Posted
The Glendale Rotary Club installed Nancy Germond, a second-generation Rotarian, as club president during its members’ first face-to-face meeting in more than a year.
Rotary District 5495 Assistant Governor Lou Rotundo swore in Germond, whose family has been involved in Rotary since before she was born.
Germond’s brother, Dan Germond, a lifetime memory of Glendale Rotary, gave a history of his sister’s life, many times emphasizing she has always been special. Germond teaches at Estrella and Glendale Community College. Her professional certifications focus on the insurance industry. She and her husband also own Sav-On Plumbing, 7110 N. 45th Ave., in Glendale.
During her message to club members, Germond has set the following goals for the coming year:
* Nurture current members and recruit new ones. Glendale Rotary’s new membership chair Adria Poindexter will take charge of that effort.
* Encourage member networking and development of community events.
* With cooperation from the city of Glendale, hold a community policing event and work with law enforcement to build stronger community relations.
* Hold monthly face-to-face meetings once a month throughout the summer, the first Thursday at noon.
* Work more closely with local Rotary clubs to hold community events.
Incoming District 5495 Governor Brett McKeand presented Germond and the club with Rotary International’s theme flag for 2021-2022, “Serve to Change Lives.” Glendale Rotary is in its 99th year in the city of Glendale, proudly serving the community and the world.
