Glendale announces office, service closures over upcoming holidays

City of Glendale offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day as well as Thursday, Nov. 25, and Friday, Nov. 26, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Glendale announces office, service closures over upcoming holidays

City of Glendale offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day as well as Thursday, Nov. 25, and Friday, Nov. 26, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Additional service and facility schedule changes related to November holidays:

Veterans Day

All residential garbage, recycling and bulk trash collection services will take place as usual on regularly scheduled collection days throughout the holiday week. The Glendale Municipal Landfill and the Solid Waste customer service office will be closed Thursday, Nov. 11.

The Foothills Recreation and Aquatics Center and Glendale Adult Center will be closed on the Veterans Day holiday. Visit glendaleaz.com/play/parks_and_recreation for information on parks and recreation services and programs.

Valley Metro local bus routes and light rail will operate on normal weekday schedules during the Veterans Day holiday Thursday, Nov. 11. However, there will be no Express or Rapid service. GUS Bus 1 will also operate on a normal weekday schedule for the holiday, running from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., GUS 2 and 3 will not be running on Veterans Day. For Dial-a-Ride service, Nov. 11, reservations must be made in advance by noon, Wednesday, Nov. 10. Reservations can be made by calling Glendale’s Transit Services at 623-930-3500. ADA service will be available on the holiday and will be based on a weekday fixed-route schedule. No same-day service will be available Wednesday, Nov. 11. ADA reservations can be made by calling Glendale’s Transit ADA Services at 623-930-3515.

The Glendale Municipal Airport will remain open during the holiday. Airport administrative offices will be closed.

All Glendale libraries will be closed Thursday, Nov. 11. Visit Glendale offices and the Visitor Center will also be closed Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day. Visit VisitGlendale.com for tourism information.

Thanksgiving

Bulk trash services, residential garbage and recycling collections will take place as usual on regularly scheduled pickup days with the following exceptions, pickups regularly scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 25, will be shifted one day to Friday, Nov. 26. Regular Friday, Nov. 26, collections will be shifted to Saturday Nov. 27. During the week of Thanksgiving, bulk trash services will begin Monday in section 4 and work until the section is completed. Bulk trash services will observe the Thanksgiving holiday, but will operate Friday, Nov. 26, pending section 4’s completion. The Glendale Municipal Landfill will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, but will be open Friday, Nov. 26.

Valley Metro buses, light rail and GUS Bus 1 will run on a Sunday/Holiday schedule Thursday, Nov. 25, and on a regular weekday schedule Friday, Nov. 26, (no Express or Rapid services). GUS 2 and 3 will not run Nov. 25 or 26. Reservations for the Dial-A-Ride service over the Thanksgiving weekend (Thursday, Nov. 25 through Sunday, Nov. 28) must be made by noon on Wednesday, Nov. 24. Reservations can be made by calling Glendale’s Transit Services at 623-930-3500. There will be no Dial-a-Ride same-day service Nov. 25 or 26. ADA service will be available Nov. 25 and 26 based on the Valley Metro service schedule.

While the Glendale Municipal Airport will remain open during the Thanksgiving holiday, the administrative offices and terminal building will be closed.

Glendale’s public libraries will be closed Nov. 25 and 26. Libraries will reopen at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27. Visit Glendale administrative offices and Visitor Center will be closed in observance of Thanksgiving Thursday, Nov. 25 and Friday, Nov. 26. Business hours will resume Monday, Nov. 29.
