A Glendale recipient was among 55 Arizona high school seniors and adult learners to earn more than $140,000 in college scholarships from the Desert Financial Foundation.

In addition to the scholarships that ranged from $2,000 to $10,000, each recipient received a backpack of gifts from the credit union to prepare them for their higher education experience. Each backpack included an iPad, an iPad case, AirPods and additional school supplies.

Ambrett Knight, of Glendale, received a $2,000 adult learner scholarship. She is pursuing an associate of nursing degree.

Of the nearly 185 applicants that applied for the Adult Learner Scholarship, 30 were selected to each receive a $2,000 scholarship, with one scholarship recipient randomly selected to receive a $5,000 scholarship. A total of $63,000 was given to the 30 recipients.

Requirements for this scholarship include being age 25 or older; enrolled in or have plans to enroll in an accredited Arizona college, university or certification program; and being a Desert Financial Credit Union member in good standing.
