Medical professionals: Don’t delay care if you have symptoms best evaluated in an ER

Firefighters, police and emergency medical services personnel gathered at Abrazo Arrowhead Campus on April 20 to salute hospital workers on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.

First responders from Glendale, Peoria, AMR and Maricopa Ambulance brought emergency vehicles including fire trucks, a ladder truck, ambulances, police cars and motorcycle officers to line up in front of the hospital’s emergency department in a show of support, while a rescue helicopter circled overhead.

Abrazo Arrowhead employees said they’ve appreciated the tremendous outpouring of support from the community and the first responders they collaborate with every day.

“There is such incredible teamwork going on throughout our Valley’s healthcare system. We are proud of everyone’s willingness to help, and proud to be on the front lines serving our community during this pandemic,” Abrazo Health CEO Brian Elisco said.

Abrazo’s hospitals continue to care for emergency patients, and delaying care could result in more complications if left unattended, noted Mr. Elisco.

“We are committed to safe, quality care as always, and we want you to feel confident coming to our hospital. We take precautions to separate COVID-19 patients and ensure a safe environment for treating non-COVID-19 emergencies, chronic conditions and new or worsening symptoms,” he said.

“Please don’t delay care if you or a loved one have symptoms that are best evaluated in an emergency room.”
