Desert Financial to have community blood drive at State Farm Stadium

Posted

Every day in hospitals across the country, millions of patients depend on lifesaving blood donations to survive.

Desert Financial encourages healthy, eligible donors to “Do Your Part” to build back the supply lost during the pandemic when so many blood drives were canceled.

The business has many locations throughout the Valley including Peoria.

The event is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., June 5, at State Farm Stadium, 1 Cardinals Drive, Gate 2, North Concourse.

Parking is free in north and east preferred lots.

To show donors appreciation, “Big Red” will make an appearance for photos, and the following thank you gifts will be given after donations are made:
• All donors will receive a $10 Dutch Bros’ gift card

• The first 100 donors will receive Cardinals/Desert Financial branded sunglasses
• All donors will be entered to win one of these two thank you gifts: An Apple Watch, or an Eco Dot.

Participants are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early.

Visit here for details, maps and registration.

“Not everyone can fight on the frontlines or practice the science that helped us win the fight against COVID-19,” said Jeff Meshey, president and CEO of Desert Financial. “But most healthy people can do their part by donating blood. It’s a small investment of time with the biggest return yet — the gift of life!”

Vitalant, Arizona’s largest nonprofit community blood provider has partnered to host the blood drive. It is entirely safe to donate blood. Vitalant is following current guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Extra precautions will continue to be implemented including social distancing, health screening and sanitation to protect staff, volunteers and donors.

Donors are encouraged to arrive early. Masks will be required during donations and provided by Desert Financial.

Additional precautions taken during the blood drive include the following, and FAQs can be found here:
• Temperatures will be taken at registration; those higher than 99.5 are not eligible to donate
• Waiting areas will accommodate social distancing measures of 6 feet apart
• Donors are required to wear masks; Desert Financial will supply extras
• Donor-touched areas will be sanitized frequently and after every collection
• Donations will be taken using sterile, one-time-use collection sets
• Donors arms will be swabbed with an antiseptic for 30 seconds

Through Sept. 10, 2021, Vitalant blood donors will be automatically entered to win a 2021 VW Tiguan, donated by seven Valley Volkswagen dealers.
