Car wash fundraiser to benefit kidney transplant for Peoria girl

A Peoria girl is getting ready to undergo a kidney transplant, and the community is being asked to help her out with an upcoming fundraiser.

Carly Campbell was born in January 2005 and has since developed chronic kidney disease due to kidney necrosis. She has avoided dialysis in her 15 years of living but has been on medications since day one.

Campbell is having a kidney transplant Tuesday, Jan. 21, according to her aunt Karie Wheeler. Campbell's mother is her donor.

From 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Campbell’s family is hosting a car wash fundraiser at Golden Spoke Cyclery, 6710 W. Thunderbird Road, Peoria.

The funds will go towards the Children's Organ Transplant Association and Campbell’s lifelong medical expenses.

Glendale Charities is sponsoring Campbell, and the fundraiser will have fire and police vehicles for children to enjoy.

Campbell’s father, Paul Campbell, has been a Glendale police officer for over 20 years while her mother, Tamara Campbell, is a registered nurse at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center.

Donations can also be made online to COTA in Campbell's honor.
