Blues great Carvin Jones and his band will perform 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27 at Tributes, 18561 N. 59th Ave., Glendale.
The legend, voted one of the 50 greatest blues guitarists of all-time by Guitarist Magazine, has made it his mission to aid the elderly during COVID-19. Since the pandemic started, Mr. Jones has been purchasing and delivering groceries to the elderly five days a week.
Proceeds from the Glendale show will also support these efforts.
“Even tho our list of lower income elderly we deliver to has grown considerably these past few months we continue to provide at least five times a week groceries,” he posted to his Facebook page. “Smiles n hope n thanks to my helpers also.. i love this community.”
Mr. Jones plays in the style of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix and B.B. King, and famously had Eric Clapton utter, “Carvin Jones is a young cat out of Phoenix who I think is the next up-and-coming blues player.”

In his spare time Steve plays in a vintage baseball league using uniforms and rules from the 1860s, and also acts (badly) in community theater. In addition, he has an unhealthy obsession with baseball and the Chicago Cubs.
