Arrowhead Mall reopens after closing for 2 days

North Glendale’s Arrowhead Towne Center reopened Tuesday after closing for two days in response to violent protests in Phoenix and Scottsdale over the weekend.

The mall, near 75th Avenue and Bell Road, closed its doors Sunday and Monday after protests in Phoenix and Scottsdale Saturday night after protests against police brutality in Phoenix and Scottsdale, mirroring more than a hundred similar protests around the country, became violent and saw property damage, vandalism and looting at the Scottsdale Fashion Square mall.

Glendale police added officers at both Arrowhead Towne Center and Westgate Entertainment Districts near 95th and Glendale avenues to ensure the same didn’t happen at the Glendale shopping centers. Sunday, Gov. Doug Ducey also instituted a statewide curfew from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. in place until Monday, June 8.

A message on the mall’s website Sunday and Monday, said the mall had closed until further notice out of an abundance of caution for the safety of its customers and retailers.

Tuesday, the mall reopened with hours of 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. with limitations and protections to stop the spread of the coronavirus, including many stores offering curbside pickup and restaurants offering takeout or delivery. For information on which of the mall’s stores and restaurants are open, visit arrowheadtownecenter.com/events/takeout .

Last week, the mall had been open until 7 p.m. but is closing a half hour earlier this week because of the governor’s curfew.
