ACU 2022 football schedule set, including Glendale opponents

Posted

Arizona Christian University, in Glendale, has announced its 2022 football schedule.

The new schedule is split evenly with five home games and five road games, three of which are in Texas.  All home games this coming season will be played under the newly installed lights of ACU football field, at 1 W. Firestorm Way.

On Saturday, Sept. 3, the Firestorm will open their 2022 campaign by hosting Sooner Athletic Conference rival Texas Wesleyan for a 7 p.m. kickoff — the new time for all ACU home contests.

A trip to Durango, Colorado, to face NCAA Division II Fort Lewis College follows Sept. 10 as the only non-SAC battle of the season.

The three-game road swing continues with games at Louisiana Christian University (Sept. 17) and Southwestern Assemblies of God Univ (Sept. 24).

The Firestorm then return to Glendale to host Ottawa University (Oct. 1) and Lyon (Oct. 8). A bye week follows before heading back to Texas to face Texas College on Oct. 22.

It’s back home after that for two straight games – Panhandle State (Oct. 29) and Langston University (Nov. 5). The regular season then wraps in Plainview, Texas, against Wayland Baptist University on Nov. 12.

The Firestorm finished 8-2 in 2021 but didn’t qualify for the 16-team NAIA Football Championship Series.
