Town employee selected for competitive fellowship

Jeanne Jensen was selected for a fellowship program with Duke University in North Carolina

A town of Gilbert employee was recently selected as a fellow for Duke University’s highly competitive Water Innovation Leadership Development executive education program.

Gilbert’s capital supervisor for water, wastewater, stormwater and reclaimed water utilities, Jeanne Jensen, was selected for the WILD fellowship along with 17 other individuals across the country.

“The WILD program’s goal is to provide these leaders with training and resources to embrace new practices and implement innovative solutions to these and other pressing issues,” the university wrote in a statement.

The program will run from September 2022-February 2023. Jensen will participate in two three-day workshops at the university and monthly leadership sessions.

Jensen will also conduct a capstone project that shadows her career goals or any projects she is working on in Gilbert.

“The idea is to help emerging leaders build a network of peers they can brainstorm with and seek advice from, even long after the program ends,” Professor Martin Doyle, WILD’s faculty lead, said in the statement.

The program will be fully funded by Duke’s donors.
