Gilbert Chamber of Commerce honors Tim Hovik, Julia Macaluso as businesspeople of the year

San Tan Ford’s Tim Hovik and GR8FR8 Logistics’ Julia Macaluso were honored June 22 as Gilbert’s Businessman and Businesswoman of the Year by the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce.

Hovik and Macaulso were among several award winners celebrated at the Chamber’s 16th annual Business Award Luncheon at the San Tan Elegante Conference Center at the Gilbert Doubletree by Hilton hotel.

Other award winners included:

  • Employer of Choice: Rocket Space;
  • Leadership Alumni: Mark Newman, Newman Realty;
  • Small Business of the Year: Wrapped with Ribbon;
  • Midsized Business of the Year: Envision Painting;
  • Large Business of the Year: Buffalo Wild Wings;
  • Chamber Volunteer of the Year: Matt Streeper, Salt River Project; and
  • Chamber Foundation Volunteers of the Year: Jenna Kahl of Chandler Gilbert Community College and Jon Schmitt of the Arizona State University Polytechnic campus.

Five Gilbert-area students also won scholarships from the chamber, including Nabiha Alam, Gilbert Classical Academy; Peyton Cushner, Park University; Meghan Huffard, Highland High School; Tyler Peterson, Desert Ridge High School; Noelle Schmitt, Highland High School.

Additionally, outgoing Chamber Board Chair Christie Boutain of Meadows Bank presented highlights from the past year and introduced new Board Chair Jan Simon of Foundation Insurance Services.

Gilbert Mayor Brigette Peterson served as master of ceremonies.
